Baby, it's cold

I should be used to this cold weather by now living in Minnesota but, nope. You can find me fireside with Boyd and a good book all winter long.

Goodbye Junk Drawer, Hello Organization

Do you ever find yourself digging helplessly in a junk drawer trying to find a paper clip? Every find yourself cursing at the pile of miss-matched tupperware because you couldn't FOR THE LIFE OF YOU find the top to any bottom? You are not alone. Life is messy and we are not making it any easier on ourselves. I'm not saying junk drawers are worthless because were else would you house items like a lint roller? (Necessary for all pet owners) When it comes to small spaces and items the key is: there's a place for everything and everything is in it's place.

The first order of business for you is tackling those old pens. You and I both know that half of those are on their last leg (or note), if that. I have an entire bin of pens and I can bet you a large amount of money that half of those pens don't even work anymore. Why do we constantly feel that throwing it back into the pile will magically make ink reappear inside?

If you are like the majority of us unorganized Americans then check out Real Simple's Spall Spaces Storage Ideas. It's okay, you can do it!

Chalkboard Paint

all photos found on pinterest

I've been obsessed with chalkboard paint. There are so many creative and fun ways that you can use it. In the kitchen, while organizing supplies/materials, as a headboard, etc. One of my favorite ways that I've seen it used is in an empty frame on the wall. This way you can continuously change the quote/saying as often as you want! For me, this is a plus because I'm constantly looking for ways to change things. I get bored very, very easily. Here is an article about some of the best uses for this paint. How would you use it?

Another favorite is this serving tray:

Home Sweet Home

Boyd and I have enjoyed being home, especially when we had our warm weather last week. We went for walks through the neighborhood and some local parks, which he looooved. He gets to run like wild man while I chase after him (looking equally as crazy). You really take for granted your childhood home and all the luxuries you had until you move away into the real world. It's nice to be back but I need to get back into my adult, busy life. No more post-graduation slump for this gal!

Art Studio Dreaming

I go through phases when it comes to painting. I might paint every day for two weeks straight and then I might not pick up a paint brush for an entire month. It's a trait of mine that I blame on my zodiac sign. I can never finish what I start! But, another contributing factor is that I don't have a great spot to create a mess. In college, I had to rely on my kitchen table. At home, I resort to my garage. Neither are all the exciting or inspiring. I feel like if I had a fabulous place to do my art that I would make something every day. If I had the opportunity to use any of the spaces above, I would never leave.

One day.... *sigh*

5 Things: Colorful Corridors

I would give anything to be able to own and decorate my own house right now. I'm always finding the most charming photos of people's homes that inspire me to no end. When the time finally comes to decorate my home, I will be so indecisive that it will probably remain unfinished until my children move out and I have to downgrade. One thing that must remain true in all of my rooms, though, is pops on pops of color! Loving these below:
those pillows

and because I'm feeling like extra inspired today I will through in a sixth image.

Have a fantastic day :)

Kitchenspiration

I often find myself envious of every blog I come across. I mean, some of you have the coolest lives EVER. It's boring being an almost 23 year-old unemployed, college graduate, living in her parent's basement. Can I just fast-forward a couple years so I can have a fabulous blog like most that I come across. (There is actually a list of blogs I frequently visit on the lower left side of the page).

So, I was just visiting A Beautiful Mess and just about died when I saw the tour of her kitchen seen here. My two favorite things would be the chalkboard cupboards and beautiful collage of her "1st year of marriage" memories. Such a cute idea.

DIY Cork Bottle Stoppers

I was reading ModCloth's Blog today and they posted the most adorable crafting idea ever: DIY Cork Bottle Stoppers! Are they not the cutest? I would make these in a second...

I'm sure you all have a million little trinkets around your home that you could use as a cute little stopper. I could easily name about 5 right now off of the top of my head. I just might have to make some for my parents since they have more than enough wine bottles that could use these.

Places I Could Call Home

I'm always admiring and comparing interior design. Some peoples' homes look like you plucked them straight out of a Model Home magazine while other homes look more "lived-in". I can't wait until I can finally own my own house and be able to decorate it however my little heart desires. Until then, I will keep thumbing through photos of beautiful homes.

This wood panel headboard is making me swoon.

Oh, and this is my guest house where I go to read.
Who doesn't love a fantastic chandelier?

Loving that wallpaper

The view of the city isn't too bad.

Smitten Kitchen

You'll soon realize the kitchen is one of my favorite rooms in the house. I LOVE to cook for my guy and my friends. I'll post many, many recipes. Don't you worry :) In the meantime, swoon over these kitchens like I did.  All photos: imgfave
THAT PANTRY DOOR. Enough said.

Love the rustic feel the wood gives.
