The End of Post Secret

Have you ever heard of the blog and/or book Post Secret? It's a place where people can anonymously post their "deepest and darkest secrets" without having to show their identity. It started with a guy making a compilation of secrets and printing them into a book. The secrets can be funny like "I farted in front of my new boyfriend but blamed it on the dog" or ... extremely messed up like "I watched my abusive father hang himself in the garage. No one knows I was watching and didn't do anything."

There's something so intriguing about reading other people's secrets... and it's so popular in fact that the Post Secret iPhone app was used by over 2 million anonymous users. Now, you can imagine the type of secrets people posted on that app. I read some secrets like "I gave my dog a hand job" or "I'm home early from Afghanistan and I'm going to surprise my girlfriend and propose." You can find yourself laughing at some, crying, cringing, and even questioning the legitimacy of some of the secrets.

Unfortunately, just today Frank Warren, the owner, shut down the application - COMPLETELY. People were abusing their right to post. Some people used it as an outlet for their suicide notes, a place to admit to "murder", people wrote threatening messages to others, etc. People would even post nude or graphic pictures.

Frank wrote: "Bad content caused users to complain to me, Apple and the FBI. I was contacted by law enforcement about bad content on the App. Threats were made against users, moderators and my family. (Two specific threats were made that I am unable to talk about). As much as we tried, we were unable to maintain a bully-free environment."

Damnit people, get your act together. I really enjoyed this app! I even paid money for it - I mean yeah, it was like $1.99 but what in the hell? Can't people just be mature?

Below are examples of what some secrets are and look like:
