I'm not even a little bit embarrassed to admit that I love TSwift's song I Knew You Were Trouble. But, I do feel a lot better about listening to it when it's someone else covering it. One of my favorite covers of this song is by Walk Off The Earth. Seriously, check out some of their other videos. They are crazy talented.

spring 2013 trend report: black and white
Black and white is HUGE this year. This spring is all about bringing back the basics in your wardrobe whether its your jeans, nude nails, or having natural makeup. Being a simple girl, I am so happy about this. The best part about this trend is that I can still play up an outfit whenever I'm feeling spunky: the pop of a bright lip, standout shoes, chunky and colorful jewelry.

Well, another Valentine's Day has come and gone. Did you guys do anything fun or exciting? It's really just another day for me. Alvi and I celebrate our anniversary on the 16th so we usually kill two birds with stone and do both on one day. This year we booked a hotel room in downtown Minneapolis and we are planning a little in-town getaway. Should be faaaaaantastic.
Nothing too exciting happened this week but here is my weekly roundup:
*
I'm still obsessing over Justin Timberlake's grammy performance. HE'S BAAAACK, LADIES!
Oh, and here's the official video for his song Suit & Tie
*
Why do paintings have to be so damn expensive? Loving this one, lately.
*
How pretty is this hair tutorial?
*
I have a major blog crush on Andie over at Deer Andie.
*
It is all about metallics this year. Easiest way to add it your outfit? These J Crew heels.
*
Let me introduce you to your newest beauty secret weapon.
*
THIS PURSE CHARGES YOUR PHONE. Like, put it inside and it wirelessly charges. Smartest idea ever?
*
Shop Kate Spade's new line Saturday before it's official launch in March over at Fab. HURRY, it's only for a week!

DVF lip clutch DIY by Sprinkles in Spring
When I first saw Diane Von Furstenberg's Carolina Lips Clutch Bag, I just about died. And then I saw that it was $345.00. I mean, seriously, how can anyone justify spending that much money on a bag, no matter how fabulous it is? I'll blame this way of thinking on me being a practical, penny-pinching, Minnesotan. Either way, I was still sad that those gold lips wouldn't find their way into my life..... UNTIL I came across this DIY project by Sprinkles in Spring. It's like it was meant to be, right? Looks like I'll be molding some lips in my near future! (Not really a sentence I ever imagined I'd say before)
perfect for valentine's day!

spring 2013 trend report: boxy cross body bags
Well ladies, time to start prepping your closets for spring! You have no idea how excited I am to throw out my salty boots and oversized knits. It's time for some color and shoes that show off my cute pedicures. Ah, warm weather, I miss you so.
There are a lot of new and reoccurring trends popping up this spring. Over the next few weeks I'll be show casing some of them for you guys. Today is all about boxy cross body bags. They are everywhere lately! Don't let their casual feel fool you. You can still wear one of these bags for a night out - think white blouse, black cigarette pants, pumps, and anstudded crossbody. Just throw on some lipstick and you'll be all set for the night!

behind the lens: lutsen weekend
Here's a little peek at some pictures from my weekend in Lutsen. It was amazing. COLD AS BALLS, but amazing. I would love to be back right now curled up next to a real fire and surrounded by some of my favorite friends.

Would You.... Wedge Sneakers?
Wedge sneakers have been seen every where lately. I know they might seem intimidating. How do I style them? Can I pull them off? But, think of it this way: it could be the best of both words! You get the comfort and causality of a sneaker but you also get the height of a heel. What do you think? Is it a spring trend you can rock?
** Please forgive me for the quality of this photo. Naturally, I would spend an hour making this collage on my iPad only to upload it and have it be illegible. Oh, well. Ya win some, ya lose some.

Will I rock the wedge sneaker? Possibly. I'll get back to you.

Mixtape: winter roadtrip edition
You'll have to excuse my low quality, slightly askew photos and graphics lately. Relying on my Ipad and phone to make my posts is very frustrating. If anyone has any apps to recommend please do so! Until then, you'll have to bear with me for awhile until I can get a computer and Adobe back into my life!
So anyway, here's my winter roadtrip mixtape that I will jamming to all the way to Lusten!

Weekly Roudup 5/52

Because I will be going out of town tomorrow (I'm headed for a little winter getaway in Lutsen), I decided to post my weekly roundup a little early. Here are five links that got me through this week:
JC Chasez Sings The Lumineers' Ho Hey at some sorority in Southern California. My initial reaction was to judge where his career went but..... just watch.
Vine app is the new latest and greatest, some say. My opinion? I haven't been able to even create a profile! Hopefully they will have it back and running soon
Well, this is embarrassing... Our mobile app will be unavailable for a bit -- just need to sort something out.

OPI Disney's Oz, The Great And Powerful Spring 2013 Collection was announced. My personal favorites: I Theodora You, When Monkeys Fly and What Wizardry Is This? (it's liquid sand) But who am I kidding? This is the first OPI line that has anything to do with the Wizard of Oz so I'll be buying the whole collection.
Call me crazy but I would totally rock the overalls in Free People's January 2013 Lookbook
Have you seen/heard of The Following? Only two words need to be said here: Kevin Bacon.
Happy early Weekend, friends!

Loving The Lumineers
I was immediately obsessed with The Lumineers the second I heard Ho Hey and their newest single is
even better. You will not regret checking out the rest of their EP, trust me.
I'm realllllly banking on them being at Lollapalooza this year.
honorable mention: Flowers In Your Hair, my personal favorite

No-Obligations Book Club
I've always been a pretty avid reader but, lately I've been finding myself either re-reading old favorites or long, never-ending series (ie Game of Thrones). I needed to shake things up a bit so in December, I started a book club on Facebook. I didn't really know how to get it started so after some googling I found a lot of "no-obligation" book clubs allowing members the freedom to choose whether they can read that month or not. I liked this idea and ran with it thus creating The No-Obligations Book Club.
The books for February have been chosen:
Head over to the facebook page to join in on the fun. If anything it's great place to find some new books to read! (click here to go to page)

would you.... at home ombre?
It looks like L'Oreal is the first company trying to revamp the ombre trend. For those of you living under a rock, ombre is a technique used to give your hair a dark-to-light effect. Basically, it's a trendy (and lazy...yeah, I said it) excuse for allowing visible roots to be a thing.
I had the impression that ombre was going to be slowly on it's way out the door but L'Oreal came in to shake things up a bit. In February of this year (next month, obviously), they are releasing an at-home dye kit. Personally, I'm scared for the general population. Most people resort to at-home dyes because it's cheap and convenient, but at-home ombre spells out disaster to me. Maybe it's super easy to use and the results turn out fantastic. If so, bravo L'Oreal!
So my question is.... would you use an at-home ombre hair color kit? Tell me below in the comments.

12/12/12
It's 12/12/12 and I have a BIG interview today. So nervous, but hoping that this special day will bring me some luck. How are you guys spending this day? Did you know it's the last repetitive day until January 1st, 2101? Better take advantage!

Baby, it's cold
I should be used to this cold weather by now living in Minnesota but, nope. You can find me fireside with Boyd and a good book all winter long.

More Announcements
Guys, I have some fantastic news.
For the last couple of years I've been complaining to just about everyone I know about how I cannot afford a new camera AND computer-two very vital (very expensive) things to me. After some (not so) subtle hints, I think may parents may have gotten me a camera for Christmas. This is a only a guess but if I know my parents well enough than its already wrapped and hidden under their bed as we speak. (Mom, if you're reading this and it actually is under your bed I promise I didn't snoop!) So, if this is true that is one step closer to true happiness for me.
Now, I just have one piece of the puzzle left: a computer. My cousin Vinnie (yes, really. No I've never seen the movie) currently owns a 17" MacBook Pro that is only a year or two old. He's been thinking of upgrading to an iMac and is willing to sell me his laptop at a great price! BOOM- Mission complete!
Anyway, the reason this is fantastic news is because I will finally be able to have all the necessary equipment needed to finally give this blog some much needed TLC. If my Christmas wishes come true, expect a whole makeover on the blog including some great new features I've been working on.
Things are looking up for Stella + Charlie.
(Ps- I wrote this post from my phone! Oh, technology....)
